Defscape Resource Pack 1.7.10 / 1.6.4

Not all resource packs set a target for themselves to make Minecraft into something it is not. The Defscape resource pack does not try to bring in photorealistic graphics. What it tries to do is to add more details to existing textures. Defscape was released 11 years ago. It has aged well but sadly, there have been no more updates for the resource pack in 10 years. The original developer abandoned the project yet Defscape survived and it is still being downloaded today. Its survival can be linked to the fact that the resource pack does not add ultra-high resolution textures, animations and it does not require shaders. It runs well even on older systems depending on which version of it you are playing on. The Defscape resource pack was originally released in 3 different resolutions. It can be found in 16x which is the normal vanilla Minecraft resolution, 32x or 64x. While the 16x and 32x do not have a significant impact on game performance, the 64x does require a more powerful system to run smoothly.

Getting back to the purpose of the resource pack, Defscape simply makes the visuals in Minecraft much crisper. The textures have not been replaced completely and everything looks the same but better. The 64x version reduces pixelation on blocks and makes small objects such as grass, leaves, and flowers appear smoother and less blocky. Most of the environment remained unchanged but each texture has more details. Some things were changed in Defscape. The resource pack does introduce new models and textures for a few mobs, making them look different than in vanilla. It also adds several new textures for armor sets and weapons. By the looks of it, the resource pack mostly targets PvP players since it does not compromise the game performance and adds new textures for PvP. Defscape is recommended to be installed with Optifine which helps stop animations from showing on the wrong blocks and help render fonts correctly. They are also needed to properly render water and grass textures.

Defscape should be compatible with all of these Minecraft versions: 1.7.10 1.7.9 1.7.4 1.7 1.6.4 1.6.2
