The Arestian’s Dawn Resource Pack 1.8.9 / 1.7.10

I have always found that TheArestian’s Dawn resource pack stands out as one of Minecraft’s absolute best RPG packs, and after trying it out, I can totally see why. It is wonderfully compact and hassle-free, making it super easy to install and boot up, plus it works smoothly alongside most other resource packs you might already be using. I really love how this RPG pack brings updated icons for all sorts of player buffs and stat levels, including hunger, speed, strength, weaknesses, health levels, poison, and so much more. This thorough attention to detail shines brightly everywhere else in Minecraft too. Weapons get a gorgeous overhaul, and items like swords, armor, and maps receive menacingly fantastical upgrades inspired by classic fantasy elements that make them look significantly larger, nastier, and much tougher. Even the map itself takes on a heavily worn and wonderfully beat-up appearance from its repeated use, which adds so much immersion. All those seemingly unimportant little things get upgraded as well, adding a ton of charm to the world.

Take the snow-covered grass blocks, for instance; I was thrilled to notice they feature adorable tufts of grass hanging off the sides, clearly indicating that these are far from ordinary dirt blocks. You can spot these small, meaningful touches throughout the entire upgraded experience, adding a layer of polish you just do not get in vanilla Minecraft. There is, however, one minor issue plaguing Arestian’s Dawn right now, which is a common hurdle for many older resource packs. The Minecraft client update to version 1.4+ introduced a wealth of new blocks, monsters, and items that ultimately need texturing. Because the final update for Arestian’s Dawn dropped prior to the Minecraft 1.8 client update, it unfortunately lacks the graphics for these newer additions, despite several months and years passing by. Even so, let us keep our fingers crossed and assume a passionate community member is already tackling this hurdle so it can be resolved soon!

The Arestian’s Dawn should be compatible with all of these Minecraft versions: 1.8.9 – 1.8.8 – 1.8.1 – 1.8.6 – 1.8 – 1.7.10 – 1.7.9 – 1.7.4 – 1.7

How to Install Texture Pack (Simple 10 Steps)

  1. Download OptiFine: Most of the texture packs and shaders need OptiFine. That’s why, first download and install OptiFine for the version of Minecraft you want to play.
  2. Download the Texture Pack: Get the texture pack you want from the download section. Choose the version that works with your Minecraft and your PC’s performance.
  3. Open Minecraft Launcher: Start Minecraft using the official game launcher — or even TLauncher, if you use that.
  4. Go to Options: From the main menu, click on the “Options” button.
  5. Open Resource Packs: Inside Options, click on “Resource Packs…”.
  6. Open the Resource Pack Folder: Click on “Open Resource Pack Folder” — this will open a folder named “resourcepacks”.
  7. Move the Pack File: Copy or move the .zip file you downloaded into that “resourcepacks” folder. (Don’t unzip the file — Minecraft uses it as-is!)
  8. Go Back and Refresh: Close the folder and click “Done”, then go back into “Resource Packs…” again.
  9. Activate the Pack: You’ll see the pack on the left side. Hover over it and click the arrow to move it to the right (active side).
Tip: If you get a message that the pack is for a different version, just click “Yes” — it usually works fine.
  10. Click Done and Enjoy: Click “Done” again. Now your pack is ready to use in-game. It’s that easy!
